Manchester City have had a very unpredictable season like all the other teams in the Premier League. The Citiznes started their campaign quickly off the blocks and went on to win their first four matches without conceding a single goal. But soon enough their form deteriorated and reached such nadir that in March it was feared that they might not even make the last four.
However, of late they have shown signs of promise. When they were drawn to face Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-final of the Champions League, not many anticipated the English club to go past the Parisians, but they did it and, quite comfortably, too. Manuel Pellegrini is set to be replaced by Pep Guardiola this summer and the Champions League will be the Chilean manager’s last shot at adding another silverware to his resume.
Real Madrid have shown signs of life since Zinedine Zidane took over the reins of the club following the sacking of Rafael Benitez. Los Blancos are now just within touching distance of arch rivals Barcelona in the race for the league title.
They made a stirring comeback in their quarter-final tie against Wolfsburg to win 3-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu to overcome the 2-0 deficit in Germany and advance to the last four.
Both these sides have met only twice over the years. Real Madrid registered a victory over the Premier League outfit in September 2012 while the fixture in November 2012 was left undecided. Real Madrid have a better league form than Pellegrini’s City. They have won all six of their last six games in the Spanish league in contrast to City, who have won three and drawn two of their last six league fixtures.
Real Madrid are synonymous with success in the Champions League and it will be a challenge for the Citizens to stop Los Blancos as they attempt to win their 11th European Cup and second in three years.
Real Madrid are favourites, but I think 2.4 is a good price on a win for Real.
