Real Madrid returned to Santiago Bernabeu with a 0 – 0 result at the Etihad on Tuesday. Manuel Pellegrini’s men have a very good chance of reaching their first ever European Cup final next week.
Zinedine Zidane’s men were unable to find a breakthrough goal against the Premier League outfit. The Spanish giants missed their star man, Cristiano Ronaldo, who failed a late fitness test prior to the crucial clash. There is still a question mark on Ronaldo’s participation in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid travel to Real Sociedad before the home fixture against Manchester City. With three matches remaining in the season, Los Blancos cannot afford a slip-up in La Liga too. Their campaign can potentially end if they fail to win their next two matches in the business end of the season.
Manchester City have a tough away fixture against Ronald Koeman’s Southampton on Sunday. If the Manchester Blues this match, they can concede the Champions League spot to Manchester United. Hence, both of their upcoming respective games are equally important to both Real Madrid and Manchester.
Real Madrid will have the home advantage but the Citizens can advance to the final even with a draw, if they manage to score an away goal. The Spanish giants might need the services of their leading goal scorer, Cristiano Ronaldo, as Karim Benzema has also suffered a muscle injury in his left hamstring.
All in all, the next leg of this tie appears to be quite delectable.
According to William Hill, Real Madrid are 11/20 to beat the visitors on Wednesday while City are 9/2 to win the tie.
We had it wrong in the last fixture, but I am going to stick to my guns and go for the Real Madrid to win.
